{"id":189,"date":"2011-07-30T01:13:40","date_gmt":"2011-07-30T01:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/greg.lyonkingdom.com\/?p=189"},"modified":"2011-07-30T01:13:40","modified_gmt":"2011-07-30T01:13:40","slug":"week-7-june-8-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greg.lyonkingdom.com\/?p=189","title":{"rendered":"Week 7 (June 8-14)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Day 43 (Wed, Jun 8th)<\/h2>\n<p>I only managed a single PT session today.<\/p>\n<h2>Day 44 (Thu, Jun 9th)<\/h2>\n<p>I missed my morning session today, but trying to take extra stairs to at least partially compensate\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Aaaaand I missed the evening one too.\u00a0 It was all for a good cause, namely playing music and reminiscing with my brother.<\/p>\n<h2>Day 45 (Fri, Jun 10th)<\/h2>\n<p>Today I missed my AM PT and even then barely made it to work on time.\u00a0 Then with Kammy\u2019s help I realized I\u2019d missed my 9 AM PT appointment.\u00a0 Thankfully there was a 1:30 opening so I took it.\u00a0 I came clean with my physical therapist, told him I hadn\u2019t really done any PT in the past two days.\u00a0 He told me not to worry, that I\u2019m getting close to the point where I\u2019ll start with every other day anyway.\u00a0 He then went on to assess my progress.\u00a0 I can do 20 one-legged squats (assisted) now, and 20 retro-step-ups about 4\u201d high.\u00a0 He explained how I could tweak the exercises to keep them challenging; Work toward 90 Degree bend on squats, and start adding a pause at the bottom of up to 5 seconds.\u00a0 For the retro-step-ups I\u2019ll keep adding height and also pause just after my heel comes off the floor.<\/p>\n<p>He also modified the bridge, now I\u2019ll use two feet to get into bridge position, and then alternately lift right then left leg off the floor.\u00a0 Once I\u2019m comfortable with those I\u2019ll switch to single-legged bridge.\u00a0 He restated that I\u2019m progressing very well, and that in a couple weeks we will do an assessment to gauge my progress.\u00a0 At that point he may introduce jogging to my PT.<\/p>\n<h2>Day 46 (Sat, Jun 11th)<\/h2>\n<p>I slept in today (much needed!) then did morning PT.\u00a0 I don\u2019t seem to be any worse for wear for having skipped two days; in fact my muscles seem a bit relaxed, and ready for more.\u00a0 I\u2019ll try to get the other one in today, but in any case my brother leaves tomorrow so it\u2019ll be back-to-normal for a week at least until we head out for the UK.<\/p>\n<h2>Day 47 (Sun, Jun 12th)<\/h2>\n<p>Stay the course!<\/p>\n<h2>Day 48 (Mon, Jun 13th)<\/h2>\n<p>Stay the course!<\/p>\n<h2>Day 49 (Tue, Jun 14th) Progress check-in<\/h2>\n<p>Today I bumped my step-down height up to 5\u201d, I could only manage 15 step downs at that height.\u00a0 I also tried single (affected) leg bridges for the first time, which went well; I was able to do 20 without much difficulty.<\/p>\n<p>My walking pace is about back to normal, though I do have to be careful not to introduce a slight unevenness between sides.\u00a0 It\u2019s not quite a limp but it\u2019s different.\u00a0 I\u2019m still nervous to start running but haven\u2019t been given the go-ahead yet anyhow, so there\u2019s still time to get more comfortable.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Day 43 (Wed, Jun 8th) I only managed a single PT session today.
